Of course Harry's Patronus had to be one of the Harry Potter themed Christmas Ornaments in my daughter's Harry Potter Christmas Tree Advent Calendar!
I went on eBay and searched for deer ornaments that could fit as stag patronuses, it wasn't that easy, but finally I found these (please note links may expire with time and I will not update or fix them) and thought they would be OK.
When they arrived I ripped out the silver thread hanging loops, replaced it with some of my tiny silver eyelet screws and thought I'd just make some pretty, swirly, beaded ornament hooks to make them more special and be done with it.
But then I started thinking about how a real patronus isn't solid but merely kind of a corporeal shaped glowing mist or smoke. That's when I came up with the idea that it'd be cool to paint part of the patronuses with sky blue glow-in-the-dark paint. The deer ornaments have a glittery finish, so painting the whole deer would ruin the glitter effect. That's why I just lightly dabbed some paint on the antlers and legs and belly of the deer, making the glow-in-the-dark effect very subtle (it would probably be stronger if I'd added more paint). It wasn't easy to capture the effect on camera, but I've given it a try, and I think it looks really cool!
