For today's Harry Potter themed Christmas Ornament Advent Calendar gift I got some cheap Slytherin's Lockets off eBay (please note that links may expire with time, and they will not be updated or fixed).
The lockets can be opened, and I debated for a while whether to put R.A.B.'s note or Voldemort's (fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself) eyes inside the lockets. Obviously I decided upon four of each! I printed four notes on regular thickness parchment style inkjet paper. I had to give it a couple of tries and learnt that I had to be careful to resize the note so that it folds up small enough to fit inside the locket. Check out this video to see how to fold the note.
I then resized and printed Voldemort's eyes four times on satin photo paper, cut them out to fit inside the lockets and fastened them with some double sided tape. I found the effect of the eyes to be most satisfyingly creepy!
Deciding not to go with homemade ornament hooks for these, I used my wire cutter and cut the locket chains to the desired lenght for hanging the lockets on the tree branches.
