December 4th - Hedwig the Snowy Owl

Hedwig the Snowy Owl Ornament
A Harry Potter themed Christmas tree would not be complete without Hedwig, Harry's beloved snowy owl! I'm almost sad to say that this was one of the few times ebay failed me, but at the time I was unable to find something pretty enough, reasonable enough and with the right size to work as Hedwig the Snowy Owl Christmas ornaments. I had to search the web both far and wide to find something useful, and finally lucked out in a small, Norwegian floral shop of some kind. They didn't even have a proper webshop, but just after last Christmas they had a sale on Christmas ornaments, and I managed to buy their last 8 snowy owls. They aren't quite as pretty as I'd like them to be, but they're the right size. They came with rather ugly burlap string loops for hanging, I ripped those off, screwed in some eyelet screws and added  home-made metal ornament hangers.

Out of the 18 different hook designs that I made for this project, these particular ornament hangers are actually the ones that I'm the most pleased with/proud of. They are in the shape of an infinity symbol, which for Potterheads often is seen as a symbol for "Always", the most beautiful, powerful and sad phrase in the entire Harry Potter saga (in my opinion).

So for December 4th of my daughter's Harry Potter themed Christmas tree Advent Calendar: Hedwig the Snowy Owl ornaments, with "Always" ornament hangers.
